How do you maintain healthy hormone levels during pregnancy? How does it relate to the symptoms one might feel along the way? What is happening to your hormones during childbirth?
We will be discussing this fascinating topic on September 2nd on Instagram Live with Katie Johnson, who is a practicing Midwife, Hypnobirthing Teacher, as well as trained in Aromatherapy for Childbirth.
As you can imagine, during pregnancy, the body undergoes some important hormonal changes. In the beginning, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), also known as the hormone detected in a positive pregnancy test, starts increasing to create and maintain the placenta. Apart from hCG, there are many other hormones involved including progesterone, estrogen, hPL, relaxin, prolactin, and oxytocin. They all have very different functions during this special time, which we discuss in our blog post “Hormonal Changes During Pregnancy.”
These hormones are responsible for fascinating changes like the preparation of the uterus for implantation, the softening of the pelvic muscles for labor, or the production of milk for breastfeeding.
Are there drastic changes between the first, second, and third trimesters? How does it relate to the symptoms one might feel along the way? What is happening to your hormones during childbirth?
